End-to-end traffic intelligence from OTT service, delivery network, to subscriber identity

GenieAnalytics Deep Trace automatically correlates traffic Flow data, Domain Name System (DNS), Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA), and Network Address Translation (NAT) messages with Genie’s in-house mapping intelligence to identify the service name, content/service provider, delivery network, public/private IP addresses, and subscriber for each traffic flow.

Deep Trace enriches GenieAnalytics’s annotated IP flow data with Over-the-top (OTT) service, Content Delivery Network (CDN) and subscriber identity awareness in real time for more user-readable network traffic insights. With Deep Trace, users can get previously unattainable, critical service and user information that drives network operation intelligence, rather than strings of digits like IP addresses or AS numbers that are hard to grasp at a glance.

Deployment

Two Types of Deployment Scenario:

  • With DNS packets mirrored

GA Ingestor can mirror AAA, NAT as well as DNS records and correlate them with the mapping data updated by Genie Internet Information Service (GIIS). The interpreted service and subscriber information are then provided to GenieAnalytics to perform cloud service analysis that tracks OTT service, CDN and user identity information.

  • Without mirroring DNS packets

When DNS packets mirroring is unfeasible at customers’ premises, Genie provides a subscription-based global DNS information exchange service, GA Apex, to provide DNS data. With GA Apex, even without mirroring DNS packets, a customer can still map its traffic flows to OTT service, site names and CDN.
