Genie proudly participated as one of the sponsors at the LKNOG 8 Conference, held yesterday (Aug. 12th) at the Galle Face Hotel in Sri Lanka. The Lanka Network Operators Group (LKNOG) Conference, known for fostering collaboration and innovation among network professionals, served as an ideal platform for Genie to showcase its expertise and contribute to the ongoing discourse on advancing network technologies.
A highlight of the event was a compelling speech delivered by Genie’s Regional Director, Sameer Baweja, who addressed the critical topic of enhancing visibility into network traffic and applications by enriching NetFlow with metadata. In his presentation, Sameer outlined how traditional methods like Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) are becoming less effective in the face of increasing encrypted traffic. He emphasized the importance of integrating metadata such as DNS, AAA, and external data feeds into NetFlow data to improve network monitoring, application visibility, and overall network troubleshooting. This approach is particularly crucial for modern networks dealing with complex challenges like CDN planning and cybersecurity threats.
The LKNOG 8 Conference brought together Sri Lanka’s leading network operators, service providers, and technology professionals, with a strong focus on local internet exchanges, 5G deployment, and network security. As more opportunities began to unfold for countries in South Asia, Genie remains at the forefront of driving innovation in the network infrastructure industry, ensuring that network operators have the tools and insights needed to manage the ever-evolving landscape of digital communications.
